It’s great feeling that you have people to share your passion about photography and that’s how we feel every single day when using Instagram. It’s great finding all of you and communicating through photos. It’s a pleasure to chat today with Dominique Lags (@freeland_ on Instagram) is from Switzerland and loves capturing both the moment of a quiet landscape, but also of a noisy road.

What does photography mean to you?

Instant moment, creativity, different perception of life and a good way to stay connected with your environment.

When was the first picture you’ve ever taken?

I think  when I was pretty young with a basic pocket camera trying to catch some of my vacations things.

When did you join Instagram?

In April 2008 with another gallery than the one I’m using now.

What’s the secret to a successful Instagram presence? How did you create a community of users?

I don’t know really, but I think you should try to post what you like and what you want to see. Also try to tell a story with your pictures.

Is there an Instagram tip you would like to share with our readers?

Check out the best hours for you to post, you can see this on the statistics page on Iconosquare for example. Also try to post 3-4 pictures per day.

Which hashtag do you use more?

#latergram I use it when a picture is taken at a time but later shared.

How do you find inspiration?

Graphic design inspired me a lot, before photography I always liked to play with graphic pictures. Cinema inspired me a lot, too.

Camera vs smartphone. Which one do you prefer?

I’m more on a camera now, but I think the quality of smartphones now is incredible! You can also put some lenses and play with crazy apps on the phone, so for me you can have a professional gallery with smartphones, too.

Which one of your photos would you consider your most interesting for you personally?

Definitely nature photos, even if I love architecture and urban pictures, but there is nothing better than being all alone a little lost in nature with just some water or animals’ noises and breathe the pure mountain air.

What’s your biggest dream relevant to photography?

Change the world? Discover new people and places around the world.

If you had to pick now your next photo journey, what would that be?

I don’t know why but I often have Hawaii in the head those days! Like catching some surfers a the sunrise and then go to those tropical mountains for the rest of the day would be perfect, so for those who read me I need your help!!!
