Evgeniy was an Instagram photographer that grabbed our attention from his first photo. He loves photography, he uses Instagram often, but most of all, he loves cycling. His Instagram username @cycling_everywhere is what his Instagram account is all about. He combines his love for photography and cycling and takes great pictures, each one with a new scenery and a different cycling angle. Travelling has never been more exciting that’s why we definitely wanted to learn more about him!

When was the first picture you’ve ever taken?

The first film photo was taken by me long before the wide spread of digital cameras. In high school I went to photo courses and shot on black and white film Svema. Don’t remember what was the camera.

And already consciously lomography film photography I became interested in 4 or 5 years ago, when I traded unnamed Chinese film camera on 1 liter of cherry juice and took my first photographs in Kiev and Sevastopol. Unfortunately they have not been preserved, because I saved scanned images on the computer and later accidentally deleted them.

How did you start taking pictures while cycling?

I was taking pictures before dragging the bike, and after purchasing the bike began to photograph even more often. With bike I started to travel a lot and visit different and interesting places. For example, I bought a MTB bike in March 2009 and in May went to ride for two weeks in the Crimea (Ukrainian mountains), where I did a lot of film photography.

Is there a secret for the perfect photo with a bicycle?

The main secret – art education or gut feeling (: For starters, you can use three plans with objects, for example, if I ride near the lake, the first plan can be a handlebar or bushes, the second plan may be the lake or boat, or a bird, a third plan can be sky or trees on the opposite bank, and even better the mountains.

And yes, do not take pictures of the bike only from the side, pick up any corner angle.

How did your passion about cycling start?

I was fond of bikes since childhood, then there was a pause, and at 20-22 years I bought the first cheap Chinese dual suspension bike (which often broke down), then again there was a big pause and at 27-28 years already bought in MTB bike one year later I gathered Singlspid, few months later bought a road bike and now almost a year later he began to collect has a new carbon road bike.

When did you join Instagram?

At first I photographed only on the film cameras when riding or traveling on a bike (I did not have a smartphone with a camera at that moment). One day I realized that travelling with a paper map is very inconvenient and indeed we are already living in the 21st century, and I bought a small tablet Nexus 7 (2013) for the maps and the Internet. From that moment I started taking my first pictures for Instagram. It was the spring of the 2013th year.

How do you find inspiration? How do you decide that you found the place for a new photograph?

My main inspiration is the bicycle, at least for now, before I just loved to take pictures, but after I started to actively ride, inspiration never left me. Sometimes I want to stop while riding, but push myself to go further, because I always see interesting places and perspectives that can take pictures, since if I do it every time, it will take very, very long time to go and I ultimately did not have enough neither film nor the battery on the tablet. And of course you need to take into account the fact that the quantity should go into the quality, so I choose the most juicy and interesting in my opinion places for photos.

Which hashtag do you use more on Instagram?

#cycling certainly. I consider it the most appropriate, it is like a philosophy term for a cyclist fan.

If you had to pick now your next photo journey, what would that be?

Oh, I’ve seen enough pictures of roads in China and really want to ride on the Road to Heaven, even though it is short, about 10 km, but terribly beautiful, dangerous, complex and fascinating!
